As a Customer Service Representative in our Payments and Digital Strategy team, you'll be at the forefront of our operations, ensuring seamless transactions and providing top-notch service to our members.

About the Role

This role is a key part of the Payments and Digital Strategy crew within blithequark's Credit Union, focusing on the daily functions related to check processing, item processing, direct bills, and fund transfers. As a Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that require attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete data entry and balancing functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate return items with members, vendors, the Federal Reserve Bank, and other institutions.
  • Assist other departments with fraud resolution, member inquiries, and associated Accounting standard ledger balancing.
  • Work on member cases/sports assigned, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Follow and maintain guidelines and approaches to ensure strict compliance with NACHA regulations and guidelines and Federal Banking laws.
  • Process loan payments, multi-account and member deposits, credit card bills, and other exams, including IRA, bankruptcy, and payoff exams.
  • Review, examine, and approve Remote Deposit, Mobile, ATM, and other imaged-enabled products.
  • Log, study, and make necessary GL, account changes, and/or returns.
  • Process Stop Pays and Check Batching.
  • Complete daily balancing and department closing.
  • Obtain information from members for the timely and accurate processing of international and domestic fund transfer requests.
  • Research and confirm incoming and outgoing fund transfer information.
  • Communicate with the seller to process fund transfers.
  • Understand and be familiar with outgoing and incoming fund transfer laws.
  • Deposit check returns, research member back checks on draft changes, process member checks, confirm members for outgoing fund transfers, and Federal Reserve verifying and releasing fund transfers.
  • Complete daily processing of workflows associated with overdue returns, supply of receipts, foreign collections, and legal fees.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high school degree or GED.
  • Intermediate Excel and Word experience.
  • The ability to work extended hours in support of business needs.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • The ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and function as a fundamental part of a team.
  • The ability to perform mathematical calculations and analyze data.
  • The ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines under high-volume pressure.
  • The ability to cross-train and perform any role assigned within the department.
  • The ability to engage professionally with all personnel and members.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong employer competencies, including self-motivation and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:

  • Previous customer/member service experience.
  • Previous banking or Credit Union experience.
  • Episys/Symitar and processing wires experience.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through work experience or training.
