Job Summary
The Principal DevOps Engineer will be a technical thought leader/individual contributor responsible for driving the organizational change in developing DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. You will contribute to enterprise-wide requirements and ensure the adoption of the same, including observability, scalability, availability, security, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the DevOps strategy, covering the design and development of tools, practices, and culture.
- Establish and implement DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment techniques.
- Design and manage infrastructure as code, using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, to provision and manage resources across cloud environments.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar, ensuring fast and reliable application delivery.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure teams are adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and troubleshoot DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, streamlining, and automation to enhance launch/failback consistency and accuracy.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for their adoption within the organization's DevOps environment.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working in public cloud environments, such as GCP (preferred), Azure, AWS, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code concepts and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for automating resource provisioning and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Ruby, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps platform issues and provide effective solutions.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging Solutions) to ensure application performance and system health.
- Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices.
- Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior engineers, is a plus.
