Our Data Choice Science + Mix (DDSI) association is at the forefront of supporting clients across various sectors, including Parks, Encounters, and Products, as well as Media. We are now looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and sustainment of products for our Media business.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be responsible for partnering with Choice Science Products, Choice Science, Client, and Innovation colleagues on various development and sustainment projects. Your primary focus will be on providing data pipeline and database engineering services to drive business value. You will work on different data engineering activities, such as maintaining and improving data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process alerting strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain products for the Media business, focusing on data engineering activities
  • Maintain and improve data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process alerting strategies
  • Perform data requirements gathering, source-to-target planning, data validation scripting and review, data visualization, and creating and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Design and implement database schema/tables/views and deliver datasets as input to science models and visualizations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business value and shape business decisions

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and support
  • Proven expertise and skill in using Python and SQL (ideally with Snowflake)
  • Experience with developing in a multi-environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOP strategies for code deployment/advancement
  • Experience creating and maintaining automated work schedulers
  • Strong understanding of relational database design and functionality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, ideally cloud-based, like Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
  • Proficiency in cloud architecture and product offerings, ideally AWS
  • Experience managing and delivering code using a source control tool like GitLab/GitHub
  • Experience using Docker
