About blithequark and the Role

blithequark's Choice Science + Mix (DDSI) association is at the forefront of supporting clients across the organization, including various business segments such as Parks and Resorts, Customer Items, and Disney Amusement. The DDSI team utilizes cutting-edge technology, data analysis, optimization, and statistical modeling to identify opportunities, inform business decisions, and drive business value. As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be an integral part of the Information Designing group, collaborating with cross-functional teams on various development and sustainment projects, ad-hoc demands, prototyping, and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and datasets for the Media business, ensuring data quality, integrity, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather data requirements, develop source-to-target mappings, and implement data validation processes.
  • Develop and monitor ETL/ELT data pipelines using SQL, Python, and other technologies, ensuring seamless data integration and processing.
  • Design and implement database schema, tables, and views to support business intelligence and data science initiatives.
  • Deliver datasets as input to science models and representations, driving business insights and decision-making.
  • Work in a multi-environment setting (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and adhere to DEVOP practices for code deployment and development.
  • Develop and maintain automated work schedulers to streamline data processing and reduce manual errors.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and maintenance, with a strong understanding of data processing and integration.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience working with Snowflake and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with developing in a multi-environment setting and adhering to DEVOP practices for code deployment and development.
  • A solid understanding of relational database design and functionality.

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out as a candidate, you will ideally have:

  • Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar cloud-based solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture and product offerings, preferably AWS.
  • Experience managing and deploying code using a source control tool like GitLab or GitHub.
  • Proficiency with Docker and containerization.
