Environmental Program Specialist 1/Trainee 1/2 - NY HELPS
About the position
Responsibilities
• Perform technical evaluation of applications for air pollution control permits and registrations.
• Draft air pollution control permits and registrations using applicable regulations.
• Conduct field inspections at regulated facilities to determine compliance with regulations and permit conditions.
• Investigate air quality complaints reported by the public.
• Prepare written reports and recommendations of compliance status for supervisor review.
• Assist staff and the Office of General Counsel in air enforcement cases.
• Manage files, including electronic files and FOIL requests.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, biology, or engineering.
• 1 year of qualifying experience for Trainee 2 or 2 years for EPS 1.
• Valid driver's license.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in technical evaluation of environmental applications.
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
• Ability to conduct field inspections and investigations.
