Morgan Stanley's global New Product Approval (NPA) Department governs the process around the review and approval of new product initiatives across all firm business lines globally. The Department reports on new product activity to business risk management organizations, firm infrastructure groups, and firm senior management on a regular basis. In addition, the Department is responsible for routine reporting to enterprise-level governance committees and interfaces with regulators as required.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Agile Project Manager to join the New York team. The successful candidate will be managing the NPA Program activities and deliverables by coordinating with the business and NPA department to ensure any issues or open items are closed and resolved. The candidate will also be acting as a liaison between our business and technology partners, with a specific focus on driving the delivery of an enhanced NPA application.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide NPA Department support of the Program activities and follow-up with the business to address issues and close open items.
- Project manage key NPA Program initiatives by coordinating with the business on the requirements and deliverables.
- Provide business analysis coverage for NPA IT initiatives by identifying, documenting, and scoping key application requirements to meet business needs.
- Translate high-level business requirements on multiple, complex applications into detailed functional specifications that can be processed by a development team.
- Perform feasibility analysis, scope projects, prioritize deliverables, recommend alternative solutions, and project strategies where appropriate to align to changing business requirements.
- Work as a liaison between business units and delivery teams in all phases of development from product definition to deployment.
- Actively participate in agile scrum meetings to ensure project progress and smooth execution.
- Understand and articulate NPA vision and strategy, ensuring that technology solutions are successfully aligned with business goals and priorities.
- Work daily in the Firm's Jira platform to define project epics, tasks, and manage the scrum board as appropriate.
- Perform UAT testing prior to production deployment and validate post-deployment.
- Coordinate globally dispersed development, QA, and deployment teams.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry and enterprise-wide trends.
- Manage NPA Program activities and deliverables.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Project Management, Finance, or a related field required.
- At least 5-7 years of experience as a Project Manager/Business Analyst.
- Self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of the Financial Services industry and content lifecycle relating to Risk, Regulatory, Financial Products, and FinTech Applications; Services.
- Relevant work experience with business requirements definition and management (end-to-end), structured analysis, process design, use case documentation.
- Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively across a variety of IT and Business groups, across regions, roles, and able to interact effectively with all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with an Agile/Scrum delivery methodology and a proven track record in delivering solutions under this methodology.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, prioritize deliverables, and understand technical challenges.
- Good personal skills, with the ability to deal with difficult situations/individuals gracefully.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify where focus is needed and bring clarity to business objectives, requirements, and priorities.
- Technical appreciation and general understanding of data warehousing, business intelligence, web, and other multi-tiered applications.
- Agile Product Owner certification (nice to have).
- Familiarity with Agile Ceremonies (nice to have).
