Job Overview
We're seeking a highly motivated and talented Graduate Intern to join our Lead Discovery & Characterization (LD&C) group. As a Grad Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experts in the field, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge automation instruments and cell-based high-content imaging assays. This is a unique chance to contribute to Amgen's drug discovery and development efforts, specifically supporting our RNAi therapeutic advancements. Key Responsibilities
- Work within the LD&C group to support Amgen's drug discovery and development efforts, focusing on cell-based high-content imaging assays and RNAi therapeutic advancements
 - Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge automation instruments and learn to apply cell-based high-content imaging assays to screen for regulators of siRNA delivery
 - Maintain cell cultures for experiments and learn to execute high-throughput RNA FISH imaging assays on an automated platform
 - Understand the application of this platform in siRNA screening and continue the mechanism of action (MOA) study by siRNA transfection in target cells
 - Screen siRNA libraries of potential regulators and analyze the effects of target gene knockdown, evaluating how receptor-mediated siRNA delivery is impacted by upregulation or downregulation
 - Conduct a literature review and summarize project-related findings, presenting your results to internal teams and engaging in scientific discussions with colleagues
 
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you should meet the following basic qualifications:
- Be 18 years or older
 - Have graduated with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
 - Be currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship, a Master's program for a Master's internship, a PharmD program for a PharmD internship, or a Ph.D. program for a Ph.D. internship from an accredited college or university
 - Have completed the first year of your MBA, Master's, PharmD, or Ph.D. program before the internship starts
 - Be enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
 - Not be employed at the time the internship starts
 - Be located in the United States for the duration of the internship or co-op
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Degree concentration in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related subject area
 - Strong cell culture skills, with experience in siRNA transfection
 - Background in cell-based assay development, with experience in high-content imaging assays being a plus
 - Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
 - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities
