Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Reader will be responsible for written summation and evaluation of Master of Arts and Master of International Public Policy applications for admission during the reading season (October through March).
• Commit to up to 15 hours per week
• Attend training sessions regarding the reading process
• Fully participate in the application reading cycle
• Read materials online (office or home)
• Attend meetings during office hours
• Participate in post-reading committee review
• Handle information in a confidential, non-discriminatory manner consistent with state and federal law
Special Instructions
• Work collaboratively with the admissions team
• Complete confidentiality forms and participate in staff-wide professional development meetings
• Employment contingent upon consent to and successful completion of a pre-employment background check, which may include criminal background checks, verification of work history, and verification of required credentials, with results acceptable to Johns Hopkins University
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Word, OnBase)
• Strong time management
• Effective oral and written communication
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and procedures
• Ability to work effectively with admissions staff
• Sensitivity to the needs of diverse student groups
• Commitment to diversity and serving diverse populations
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• Some related experience with higher education
• Education substitutions may apply as per the JHU equivalency formula
Preferred Qualifications
• Some experience with higher education, especially evaluation of undergraduate or graduate applications, is preferred but not required
• Familiarity with Johns Hopkins SAIS and/or APSIA member graduate schools for international affairs
