We're seeking a talented and driven Social Media and Communications Intern to join our team in crafting Florida's first legislation dedicated to combating education censorship laws.
About the Opportunity
This is a unique chance to make a lasting impact on Florida's education system and be part of a pioneering effort to promote equity, inclusion, and academic excellence. As a Social Media and Communications Intern, you'll play a vital role in spearheading our social media campaigns, managing our online presence, and engaging with our community. This is a semester-long internship with a stipend of $1000, and we're looking for candidates who are local to Tallahassee, Miami-Dade, or Jacksonville.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead social media campaigns, including research, writing, design, videography, publishing, eblasts, content creation, and advertising to drive engagement and promote our mission.
- Monitor social media trends, including developments in design, applications, strategy, and innovation to stay relevant and effective in our online presence.
- Track key performance metrics to maximize results and report progress to management, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Manage email and Slack channels, actively engage members, and send reminders for upcoming events to foster a sense of community.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with our organizational goals and objectives.
Essential Qualifications
- Two or more years of relevant experience in social media marketing, social media team management, or a related role, with a proven track record of success.
- Proven knowledge and experience in the fundamentals of social media, graphic design, and the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, with a strong understanding of how to leverage these skills to drive engagement.
- Demonstrated understanding of social media platforms, their unique audiences, and how to use them to maximize branding and marketing efforts, with a focus on creating inclusive and engaging content.
- Exceptional skills in time management, communication, and interpersonal relations, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
- Understanding and knowledge of LGBTQ+ history, SOGI, queer culture, sexual health, and equitable access to education, with a passion for promoting social justice and equality.
- A portfolio that demonstrates your understanding of digital design, social media, and marketing, with a focus on showcasing your creativity and expertise.
- Availability for a 10-hour workweek, with one weekly meeting, and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
