Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team as a full-time EBD/LD Teacher. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with EBD and LD, ensuring that each student receives tailored support and accommodations to meet their unique learning needs.
 - Provide specialized instruction and support to students with EBD and LD, using evidence-based practices and strategies to promote academic, social, and emotional growth.
 - Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure that all students receive a comprehensive and cohesive education.
 - Assess student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and adjusting instruction to meet the evolving needs of each student.
 - Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress, and involving them in the educational planning process.
 - Participate in professional development opportunities, staying current with best practices in special education, and sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
 - Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, including IEPs, progress reports, and other relevant documentation.
 
Essential Qualifications
- Current Minnesota teaching license in Special Education, with endorsement in EBD and/or LD.
 - Minimum of 2 years of experience in special education, preferably in an urban, multicultural setting.
 - Strong knowledge of special education laws, policies, and procedures, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other support staff.
 - Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
 - Experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and other evidence-based practices.
 - Knowledge of assistive technology and other tools to support students with diverse learning needs.
 - Experience with culturally responsive teaching practices and trauma-informed care.
 - Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and families from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
