Job Overview
The Graduate Assistant - Women's Volleyball position is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for individuals interested in pursuing a career in coaching or college athletics. As a graduate assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced coaching staff, developing your skills and knowledge in areas such as team operations, recruiting, and player development. Key Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with coaching staff and team members to assist with team operations
 - Assist the head coach in planning and running team training sessions
 - Assist with scouting reports and game preparation
 - Aid in recruiting and retention efforts, including communicating with prospective student-athletes and their families
 - Assist with coordination of travel planning and scheduling, ensuring seamless team operations
 - Coordinate mentoring, tutoring, or other assistance needed by athletes, providing support for their academic and personal success
 - Conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner at all times, representing the university and athletic department with integrity
 - Develop and demonstrate a working knowledge of NCAA compliance rules, ensuring adherence to regulations and policies
 - Complete all University-required trainings, including FERPA and Title IX, to maintain a safe and respectful environment
 - Contribute to the overall success of the Newman Athletics Department by performing all other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position
 
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
 - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
 - Must be accepted and enrolled full-time (at least six credit hours per semester) in a Master's degree program during the academic year (fall and spring semester)
 - Previous experience in a college athletic setting, preferably in volleyball or a related sport
 - Genuine interest in and willingness to work with students, understanding of student attitudes, concerns, and problems
 - Strong organizational and computer skills, with the ability to exercise basic human relations skills in directing and motivating staff
 - AED and/or CPR training preferred, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
