We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Online Student Services Advisor to join our team in a hybrid role, combining remote work with time in our office, to support the success of our online Master of Social Work (MSW) students.

About the Role

Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean for Student & Academic Affairs, the Online Student Services Advisor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful transitions of new students into our fully online MSW programs. This position will develop programming to support online student success and retention, advise students on academic requirements and relevant policies, and foster a sense of community among our online students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise online MSW students regarding program information, procedures, academic requirements, and licensure/certification requirements, serving as the initial point of contact for students in need of support.
  • Develop and implement orientation programming and academic support initiatives tailored to the online student population, addressing their unique needs related to time management, academic skill development, and readiness for graduate-level learning.
  • Conduct program assessments and plan events to build a sense of community among online students, including mid-semester outreach to students at risk of failing coursework.
  • Assist online students with navigating university student support services remotely and guide them in clarifying professional career goals through programming and individual advisement.
  • Support online recruitment initiatives, including marketing planning and implementation, and facilitate efforts to make schoolwide events and programs accessible to online students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across units to reach and connect with online students, including working with the Faculty Liaison for Racially Underrepresented Students to develop targeted programming and resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our online MSW programs.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in Higher Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with students in a college or university setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, public presentation skills, and strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • One or more years of experience working with students in a college or university setting, preferably with graduate students, adult learners, and/or online students.
  • Experience with online education and academic advising.
  • Knowledge of student development theory.

Skills and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively advise and support online students.
  • The ability to develop and implement programming that addresses the unique needs of online students.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support online student success, including navigating university student support services.
  • A commitment to fostering a sense of community among online students and promoting their academic success.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, with a salary range of $55,151 - $59,000.
