The Role: One Call Specialist

We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented One Call Specialist to join our Cable Protection Academy team! This is an excellent starter role that offers a unique introduction to the telecommunications industry. As a One Call Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection of our underground fiber optics network by screening One Call Center Locate Ticket requests and analyzing the location of dig sites. This position requires a strong and diverse skillset, and we're excited to provide a combination of training and practical experience to help you succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screen One Call Center Locate Ticket requests to analyze the location of dig sites in relation to our underground fiber optics network using a software application.
  • Ensure the protection of company fiber and prevent costly restoration due to fiber cuts or damage by verifying that dig sites are clear.
  • Work in a 24x7 year-round environment, covering various shifts, holidays, or working overtime as needed.
  • Apply knowledge and skills learned during training to provide exceptional customer support and communicate key telecom concepts effectively.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including 24/7/365, as needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and abilities.
  • Relevant experience in a similar industry, such as telecom, military, or business, with similar essential duties.
  • Experience in customer service or project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with customers in a professional manner.
  • Accurate and methodical approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical skills to analyze data, recognize problems, and draw quick logical conclusions in a production environment.
  • Above-average mathematical acumen.
  • Proficiency in MS Windows and Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to plan work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of IRTHNet or other Ticket Management Systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), Ops Console, Map books, GIS Applications, and State One Call Center websites.
  • 2+ years of military experience in a technical or support specialty.
  • Associate degree in a networking, business, or related field.
  • Certification (e.g., A+).
