About the Role

We're seeking a reliable, passionate, and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Hillsdale, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule, working with students of various ages and backgrounds. Key Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students in elementary, middle, and high school settings
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, adapting to the needs of each classroom and student
• Manage classroom behavior, maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and school administrators, providing regular updates on student progress
• Collaborate with other educators to develop and implement curriculum, sharing best practices and expertise
• Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and technologies

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• A NJ Substitute Credential
• A background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

• Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Knowledge of special education principles and practices
• Experience with trauma-informed teaching and classroom management
• Proficiency in multiple subjects, including math, science, and English
• Experience with educational technology and software
