We are now opening our Easley location and are seeking a Part-Time Teacher/Tutor to join our team of dedicated educators.

About the Role

As a Part-Time Teacher/Tutor at Sylvan Learning of Western Carolinas and Midlands of SC, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students. You will be working in a high-performing, individualized learning environment where you will see the "light bulb" moments daily. You will have the time to teach something to a student in as many ways as they need it until they understand it, building mastery of skills while building confidence. Key Responsibilities

  • Teach students in a small group setting, with a ratio of 3 or 4 students to 1 teacher
  • Utilize Sylvan's expert personal and prescriptive approach to meet the individual needs of each student
  • Teach reading, math, writing, and study skills to students in elementary, middle, and/or high school
  • Start with paid training and certifications from Sylvan to teach what you can teach
  • Earn additional certifications and increase your hourly rate
  • Work with students to build skills and confidence, and to experience daily the impact you make

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong passion for teaching and a high mastery of knowledge at multiple levels. You will need to be patient, able to multitask, and able to control and manage your own time. You will also need to have excellent communication skills, be able to relate to students of all types, and be able to think one step ahead. A bachelor's degree in education and a current or expired teaching license from any state are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with students in a tutoring or teaching setting
  • Ability to teach multiple subjects, including reading, math, writing, and study skills
  • Experience working with students of all ages and skill levels
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
