About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior High Language Arts Teacher to join our team at SS. Faith, Hope & Charity School. As a Jr High ELA Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching English and Advanced level reading to 5th-8th grade students. You will be expected to provide engaging coursework, cater to diverse student needs, and incorporate technology and different avenues of learning to keep the material fresh and interesting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and act in accordance with the mission of the Catholic faith
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and principal
  • Participate in professional development programs required by the Archdiocese of Chicago and/or the local school and parish
  • Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal, including but not limited to providing remote instruction for students
  • Attend required faculty and staff meetings
  • Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities, and projects
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment
  • Participate in the annual performance review
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Preferred qualifications include 3-5 years of teaching experience, valid state teaching licensure, and experience teaching through remote learning platforms
  • A strong understanding of curriculum development and classroom management skills
  • The ability to engage students and inspire a love of learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Strong knowledge of English and Advanced level reading curricula
  • Ability to cater to diverse student needs and learning styles
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Ability to incorporate technology and different avenues of learning
