About Liberty Mutual and the USRM Reserving Team
Liberty Mutual is a global insurer with a rich history of helping people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow. Our USRM Reserving team plays a critical role in analyzing and managing reserves for our personal auto liability business. As a Manager, Actuary, you will lead a team of actuaries in creating state-level reserve analyses and planning inputs for key states, collaborating with various functions, including State Management, Personal Lines (PL) Auto Analytics, Countrywide Reserving, Actuarial Reserve Modeling, and Claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with State Management to identify and understand key states at a granular level, leveraging existing data, analyses, and models to analyze state loss development.
- Clearly explain key analytical assumptions and conclusions in business terms, gaining buy-in from state partners to drive decisions in the market.
- Create a culture of innovation, building and enhancing analysis and tools, as well as creating efficiencies in processes.
- Model inclusiveness by living Liberty Mutual's Values, fostering an inclusive culture, and proactively seeking out all forms of diversity.
- Develop talent within the team, including development and talent evaluation, and form resilient teams that can attract talent with diverse backgrounds.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in an analytically driven environment.
- A strong understanding of P&C actuarial reserving techniques, standards, and assumptions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to broad audiences.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the organization.
- A commitment to Liberty Mutual's Values, including a focus on continuous improvement and creating a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or near-FCAS designation.
- 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience, including supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of underwriting concepts, including company/agency relationships' importance to business success.
