Key Responsibilities
- Teach a comprehensive range of auto technology concepts and skills, including engine rebuilding, tune-up, lubrication, ignition, wheel/tire balancing, alignment, fuel systems, transmission/transaxles, chassis and body, electrical systems, brakes, suspension and steering, axles/drive axles/differentials, engine performance and emissions, air conditioning and heating, and other related automotive applications.
- Develop, plan, and implement effective classroom management strategies that align with District and School Site policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Create and maintain a safe and organized learning environment, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures for all automotive-related activities, equipment, and tools.
- Instruct and supervise students in the proper and safe use of tools and technology, promoting hands-on learning experiences.
- Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that follow state-approved CTE standards, incorporating industry skills and concepts, and adapting to the diverse needs of students.
- Foster a culture of excellence, encouraging students to develop sequential assignments that guide, challenge, and meet their individual needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution or equivalent.
- Possess a valid teaching certification or license, meeting the State of Delaware's requirements.
- Achieve a passing score on a Content Knowledge Exam (e.g., Praxis II, ACTFL), as required.
- Satisfy additional licensure and certification requirements, including coursework as necessary.
- Hold National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence's (ASE) Master Automobile Technician Certification.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Teaching experience in a CTE setting, preferably in auto technology.
- Industry experience in the automotive sector, with a strong understanding of current technologies and trends.
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
