Remote Medical Coders
                                About the position
Responsibilities
• Review documentation to identify and resolve inconsistencies, ambiguities, or discrepancies that may affect coding accuracy and patient care.
• Accurately assign Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), and International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification (ICD-CM) codes based on medical record documentation.
• Utilize the Military Health System (MHS) Genesis systems to access patient records and assign codes for patient encounters.
• Achieve and maintain hourly coding productivity and a 97% accuracy standard.
Requirements
• At least 1 year of medical coding experience.
• Certification through AAPC or AHIMA, such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
• An Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a biological science, or a university certificate in medical coding.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with DoD or Veterans Administration medical coding.
• Experience with MHS Genesis medical coding.
