About the Role: SpEd Substitute Teacher
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team in Denver, CO. As a SpEd Substitute Teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with students of varying ages and abilities, providing instruction, support, and guidance in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
 - Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, using a range of teaching strategies and techniques to engage students
 - Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing feedback and support to ensure student progress
 - Exercise classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and respectful learning environment for all students
 - Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, promoting collaboration and teamwork
 
Essential Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
 - Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired)
 - Three References with one by a previous direct supervisor
 - Complete a Background Check for Scoot Education (you'll be reimbursed for the cost on your first paycheck)
 - Complete a Background Check for the Colorado Department of Education (to receive your Substitute Authorization; you will not be reimbursed for the cost)
 
Preferred Qualifications:
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience working with students with diverse needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive special education
 - Knowledge of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), Functional Behavior Assessments, and Behavior Intervention plans
 - Training in trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and other relevant areas
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
