Role Description
We are seeking a Native iOS App Developer (Swift) to help bring the Ineffable Treasure Map project to life, a creative augmented reality (AR) mobile map experience that blends storytelling, exploration, and cultural discovery. This is a volunteer position that offers a unique opportunity to work on an innovative project at the intersection of film, art, and immersive technology.
The developer will collaborate with our creative team to turn our physical a native iOS app in Swift that integrates ARKit and location-based features. This role is ideal for someone excited by the fusion of storytelling and technology, and who wants to contribute their technical skills to a meaningful, community-driven initiative.
Key Responsibilities
• App Development: Build and maintain a native iOS app in Swift with ARKit integration.
• AR Integration: Implement augmented reality features that overlay narrative and interactive elements onto physical environments.
• Mapping & Location Features: Develop functionality for treasure map navigation, geolocation, and potentially GPS-based triggers.
• Collaboration: Work closely with creative leads, designers, and filmmakers to translate narrative ideas into interactive features.
• Testing & Iteration: Conduct testing, troubleshoot issues, and refine the user experience.
• Documentation: Maintain clear documentation for the app’s structure, features, and future scalability.
Qualifications
• Technical Experience: Proficiency in Swift and iOS development (1–2 years minimum, academic or professional).
• AR Skills: Familiarity with ARKit (or other AR frameworks like RealityKit, SceneKit, or Unity/Unreal if adaptable).
• Mobile APIs: Experience with integrating maps, GPS/location services, and camera functions.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to prototype quickly and creatively solve technical challenges.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and openness to working with a multidisciplinary team.
• Passion for Mission: Interest in storytelling, cultural exploration, and the arts.
• Bonus: Experience with multiplayer AR, CoreML (for future interactive features), or nonprofit/creative projects.
