About This Role: Senior Engineer in Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Support

This position is part of the Engineering Group within the Coordinated Operations Division at American Airlines, offering the flexibility of remote work. As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for providing critical engineering support for the maintenance and operation of aircraft and related equipment. This role also involves establishing and maintaining aircraft and part standards within areas of responsibility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company manuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training for specialists in areas of expertise, enhancing their technical capabilities.
  • Serve as a guide to other engineers, providing mentorship and support.
  • Act as a team leader/facilitator over project management or issue resolution, driving projects forward.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and regulatory specialists as needed, ensuring that engineering practices are properly validated according to relevant guidelines and company manuals.
  • Develop customized procedures and special instructions for repairs, modifications, inspections, and other maintenance activities not adequately addressed in existing manuals.
  • Stay informed about daily carrier operations, including areas of liability, and review daily needs according to aircraft/departmental targets and management mandates.
  • Investigate aircraft/part issues that may cause delays or cancellations, significant expenses in labor or materials, or breaks in maintenance activities, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide engineering support as needed to attitude of discrepant conditions affecting aircraft or parts to restore serviceable status.
  • Respond to requests from Maintenance and other carrier divisions when technical support is needed to facilitate operations or resolve issues.
  • Create work plans for fleet/multi-fleet and/or part engineering projects and pursue definite attitudes according to evaluated needs.
  • Coordinate with other aircraft divisions as expected to facilitate effective and efficient execution of engineering practices.
  • Prepare engineering documents to implement technical practices by providing customized procedures for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance activities that deliver benefits according to aircraft/departmental targets and management mandates.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and forthcoming regulations affecting areas of responsibility and ensure that all engineering activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize available resources to enhance levels of technical expertise and practical experience continually. Also, strive to improve communication skills, use time effectively, and other personal attributes relevant to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties.
  • Actively engage with frontline colleagues and management alike, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications and Requirements for Success

To excel in this role, you will need:

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or a related Engineering license.
  • A minimum of 1 year of engineering experience in a connected field (or 2 years of experience without a degree).
  • A&P license, demonstrating your technical expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • The ability to analyze technical data and make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated fitness, capacity, and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilities.
  • The ability to prepare and deliver presentations that promote acceptance of solutions.
  • Effective communication skills to connect with both internal and external clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft maintenance and engineering practices.
  • Experience with project management and issue resolution.
  • A strong background in regulatory compliance and industry standards.
