Joining Ramboll As our new Geology or Environmental Science Consultant, you will be working closely with Project Managers and other Consultants on environmental characterization, investigation, ecological assessments, and remedial strategy and implementation. For this role, we believe your starting point is: At least a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or other related Earth Science discipline from an accredited institution and 0-3 years relevant work experience. Classwork or experience with geophysics, geochemistry, organic chemistry hydrology, ecology, and biology. Groundwater flow and/or contaminant transport modeling, GIS mapping, and/or field geology coursework (as applicable) are a plus. Experience with environmental regulatory programs, document database management, risk assessment, environmental sampling, and/or due diligence is a plus. Fundamentals of Geology (FG) certification is preferred, as applicable. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is a plus. Candidates must be willing to travel up to 70% average over the year and possess a valid drivers license. Most travel will be local; however, some may include overnight stay and may be out of state. Travel duration may range from 1-10 days, depending upon the specific requirements of each project. The physical requirements of this position may include the need for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing/sitting/walking, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 40 lbs. In certain situations, this position may expose the candidate to extremes in weather (hot/cold); high noise levels, to hazards such as a proximity to moving machine parts and moving vehicles, electrical current and exposure to chemicals. Employees may be required to take specific training and to wear PPE on some occasions. Tasks and Responsibilities Assistance with the development of comprehensive site investigation work plans by participating in scope of work development, budgeting, and data analysis to characterize contaminants in sediments, soil, air, surface water, and groundwater. Assistance with development of Conceptual Site Models and ecological assessments. Coordination and oversight of drilling, surveying, and laboratory services. Performance of field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling, hydraulic testing such as slug test and pump tests, soil boring and monitoring well installation, soil logging, and well purging and sampling. Oversight of implementation and field management (including operation, maintenance, and monitoring) of various environmental remediation systems (e.g., soil vapor extraction (SVE), enhanced in-situ bioremediation (eISB), in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), permeable reactive barriers (PRB), and groundwater extraction and treatment). Assistance with the preparation and editing of technical and regulatory reports.
