Group Stage QMO: Ensuring Quality in Application Development
The Quality Management Office (QMO) is a critical component of our Innovation Office, focusing on the application side of our operations. Our primary responsibility is to ensure the quality of applications used by our Teams, including Airline Stewards and Pilots, for their daily tasks. We work closely with Case's (Scrum Expert, Engineer, Product Owners) to test applications as they make changes, and we are also responsible for metrics to showcase progress and ensure Leadership is informed about testing.
Client and Business: Driving Innovation with Southwest Get-aways (SWAV)
The Southwest Excursions Group is at the forefront of creating a new, revenue-generating product for Southwest beyond its core air product. This is a fast-paced, highly motivated enterprise drive where you will have the opportunity to learn about the air business as well as the travel industry as a whole. As an Innovation Investigator Understudy, you will be an integral part of this team and contribute to the development of this exciting new product.
Key Responsibilities and Obligations
As an Innovation Investigator Understudy, your responsibilities and obligations may include, but are not limited to:
- Working with business clients to conduct requirements analysis relative to systems and business processes to create quality technical solutions.
- Ensuring solutions are aligned with internal tooling, business procedures, and conform to departmental guidelines.
- Managing timeframes for planning, coding, testing, and executing to ensure solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Acting as a resource to ensure effective communications between business and Innovation Teams.
- Participating in systems and acceptance testing.
- Scope of work varies depending on the Team project.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Basic knowledge of business analysis, process modeling, and improvement is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of technical environment required.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies preferred.
- Basic understanding of project management procedures.
- Strong critical thinking and verbal/written communication skills required.
- Ability to remain organized and manage multiple and simultaneous tasks under tight deadlines.
- Prior analyst internship experience within the past year preferred.
- Experience solving business problems in a capstone or case competition preferred.
