Job Overview

As a Subject Matter Expert - Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum, you will play a critical role in creating, preparing, and developing online courses and related materials for the Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Department (TLC) within the School of Education. You will work collaboratively with Program Directors, Instructional Designers, and the Director of Online Learning to prepare high-quality materials, including syllabi, instructor notes, concept introductions, learning objective specifications, instructional content presentations, learning activity descriptions, and assessment articulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop online courses and related materials in collaboration with Instructional Designers and Program Directors
  • Use a predetermined course template, format, and guidelines provided by the School of Education
  • Establish content due dates and work closely with Instructional Designers to meet project deadlines
  • Update course syllabi, including course descriptions, overviews, and learning objectives
  • Introduce weekly overview concepts and specify learning objectives
  • Gather instructional content, such as online resources, visuals, videos, and presentations
  • Describe learning activities and articulate assessments, including formative and summative evaluations

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Education or a related field
  • 1 or more years of professional experience in education or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree specialization in the area where the SME is developing the course
  • 1 or more years of experience working or teaching in the field

Skills and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong knowledge of teaching, learning, and curriculum development principles
  • Experience with online course development and design
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
