Position Overview

As a Math Instructor/Tutor at Mathnasium of Laurel, you'll be responsible for delivering mathematical instruction to students using the Mathnasium Method. This will involve:

• Providing exceptional customer service and expert instruction to students
• Building students' confidence and self-esteem through successful encounters and interactions with carefully selected materials
• Working as part of a team and operating in a team teaching environment
• Collaborating with colleagues to ensure all student needs are addressed

Key Responsibilities:

• Use the Mathnasium Method and teaching constructs to deliver instruction
• Maintain good availability to work at Mathnasium and provide accurate and timely information regarding your schedule
• Continuously strive to become a great instructor and demonstrate retention of information learned during training and staff meetings
• Be available to attend staff meetings approximately once every 4-6 weeks
• Teach students in a way that makes sense to them, not necessarily to you
• Be encouraging and use praise and constructive feedback appropriately
• Provide necessary support to support administrative aspects of the center and help maintain center cleanliness and order

Essential Qualifications:

• Passion for math and working with students
• Ability to demonstrate math proficiency at least through Algebra 1
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to inspire students to do well
• Eagerness to learn and be trained (15-20 hours of training within one month of hire)
• Ability to balance various ongoing tasks and multitask
• Professional demeanor and effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrable ability to do higher level math (Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus)
• Previous experience working with students or teaching math

• Strong math skills and knowledge of the Mathnasium Method
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
