About the Department of Film and Digital Arts
The Department of Film and Digital Arts at Santa Fe Community College is a dynamic and innovative program that offers a range of courses and degree options in film and television production, screenwriting, and film studies. Job Summary
We are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member in Film and Television Production to teach a range of courses, including on-set sound, lighting, grip, dolly grip, cinematography, make-up for camera, wardrobe, general below-the-line crafts, video production, digital editing, volumetric LED, directing for film/television, acting for film/television, film studies, and other Film/Television fields. The successful candidate will have a strong background in film and television production, excellent teaching and communication skills, and a commitment to student-centered learning. Key Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in film and television production, including on-set sound, lighting, grip, dolly grip, cinematography, make-up for camera, wardrobe, general below-the-line crafts, video production, digital editing, volumetric LED, directing for film/television, acting for film/television, film studies, and other Film/Television fields
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to ensure student learning outcomes
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students
- Evaluate student performance, provide feedback, and assign grades
- Attend departmental meetings, participate in curriculum development, and engage in other departmental activities as required
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in film and television production
Essential Qualifications
- MA in Film or related field or BA in Film or related field and 5 years of professional experience in Film and/or Television production
- Strong background in film and television production, including expertise in one or more areas of film/television production
- Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student-centered learning and academic excellence
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of teaching experience at the college level
- Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment
- Familiarity with industry-standard software and technologies, including digital editing, cinematography, and sound design
- Knowledge of on-set safety protocols and OSHA regulations
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with disabilities, English language learners, and students from underrepresented groups
