As a Software Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in driving the future of Southwest's Customer360 Group on a Salesforce application, providing a 360-degree view of our customers and their Southwest experience.
About the Role
This is a full-time, 8-hour workday position that requires a strong and diverse skillset in software development, testing, and Salesforce expertise. As a Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, writing code, testing, reporting, and implementing application systems that meet customer needs, organizational philosophies, and standards. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions and respond to production issues, ensuring prompt resolution across technology areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge and skills of software development and testing to solve a range of problems, collaborating with developers to raise the bar on technology and consistently apply best practices.
- Work closely with clients and cross-functional offices to communicate project situations and proposals, reporting on every aspect of a system or application for future updates and maintenance.
- Determine and evaluate customer needs, creating software to meet those requirements and identifying and resolving issues that arise during design, testing, and maintenance processes.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software, preparing and presenting solutions by determining and planning system specifications, rules, and software.
- Coach junior team members and improve technical capabilities through continuing education, reading, workshops, conferences, and/or networks of training.
- May perform other work-related tasks as directed by management.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- Intermediate knowledge of software development procedures, practices, concepts, and technologies acquired through formal training and/or work experience.
- Ability to demonstrate consistent application of programming development and testing skills to solve a range of problems.
- Moderate knowledge of at least one required programming language, such as Java or JavaScript.
- Experience with Salesforce development, including greenfield, upgrade, and break/fix development (e.g., Apex classes, Visualforce pages, triggers).
- Experience with Help Cloud and Lightning Web Parts development.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools, such as GIT and SalesforceDX.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Previous experience with Java programming, JavaScript, and JSON.
- Experience with Salesforce API integration for applications dwelling on different platforms.
- Experience with Community Cloud and developing and deploying mobile applications on Salesforce1.
- Broad involvement in Lightning Web Parts development, Apex development, and Service Cloud.
