Job Overview: Social Freelancer for Weekend Shifts

We are seeking an experienced Social Media Freelancer to join our team on a part-time basis, working weekends from 10AM - 5PM ET. As a Social Freelancer, you will play a critical role in driving our social media presence across Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and supporting Complex Sports as needed. If you have a proven understanding of social media platforms, a keen eye for trending moments, and a passion for internet culture and sports, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Post editorial features across Complex's social media channels, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
• Support Complex Sports by creating and curating content that resonates with our audience.
• Aggregate content in a timely and on-brand manner, ensuring that our social media channels are always up-to-date.
• Create and post videos, including social cuts and original content, to all of Complex's social channels.
• Cover big sports moments creatively and in a timely manner, leveraging your knowledge of current events and trending moments.
• Post breaking or trending news to all of Complex's social channels, staying ahead of the curve and anticipating what's next.
• Source UGC content, follow approval protocols, and post to Complex's social channels, ensuring that our content is diverse and engaging.
• Utilize Adobe Photoshop to create original social assets for posting, bringing your creativity and design skills to the table.
• Communicate effectively with the Social team through Slack, Email, and Google Meets, ensuring seamless collaboration and coordination.
• Master Complex's editorial voice and tone, and surface and pitch viral, breaking, and social-friendly content to our news team.
• Support the Social team as needed, demonstrating your flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a deep understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Threads. You should be familiar with Complex's content, tone, and voice, and have a keen interest in internet culture and sports. Some key requirements include:

• Proven understanding of social media platforms, with a track record of creating and curating content that resonates with diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with Complex content, tone, and voice, or a willingness to learn and adapt to our unique brand of storytelling.
• Impeccable organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of current events and trending moments, with a knack for anticipating what's next and staying ahead of the curve.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, with a strong understanding of design principles and a keen eye for visual storytelling.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the Social team and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, with a strong sense of self-motivation and a willingness to problem-solve on your own when needed.
• Positive and proactive attitude, with a can-do mindset and a passion for delivering high-quality results.
