About Our Team
The Pricing & Promotions Science organization is a dynamic team of researchers and scientists who work together to build and deploy cutting-edge machine learning models that drive business outcomes. Our team is responsible for:
- Building advanced machine learning models for product similarity, substitutability, error detection & correction, and probabilistic price estimation
- Driving discovery and discount optimization, promotion & deal recommendation and ranking, and causal short & long term impact measurement
- Ensuring Amazon's prices are always competitive and error-free, preserving long-term customer trust
Job Summary
We're looking for a talented, organized, and customer-focused leader to seed our science program management function. As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will partner effectively with both our scientists and multiple cross-functional stakeholder & dependency teams within Pricing, Promotions, and across Amazon. This role requires an individual with excellent team leadership skills, outstanding business acumen, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Key Responsibilities
As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Plotting The Course: Coordinating across Science, Engineering, Product, Business, Legal, and Finance to capture and translate requirements into an actionable science delivery roadmap
- Mitigating Risks: Managing cross-functional and cross-org dependencies risks, and making appropriate trade-offs weighing value vs time to market
- Being The Pulse: Owning regular communication mechanisms to keep senior leadership & stakeholders informed of program progress, risks, timelines, and high judgement decisions
- Delivering Results: Leading effective and efficient delivery of large, complex science programs
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 10+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
- Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- 5+ years technical hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and/or causal modeling techniques
Preferred Qualifications
We prefer candidates with:
- Prior experience managing analytics, data science, or machine learning, research, or applied science teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
