Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Worcester, MA. As a remote worker, you will have the flexibility to work from home, with a required 6-week on-site training period in Worcester, MA. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and technical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assigned duties as directed by the Prescription Specialist Supervisor
- Interact effectively and professionally with all location departments, patients, prescribers, payors, and pharmacies
- Develop proficiencies in the utilization of Epic and work independently to handle multiple tasks
- Greet patients over the telephone to ensure prompt service for patient needs
- Perform computer entry of prescription information, including patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, and prescription interpretation
- Accurately review and process e-prescriptions, faxed prescriptions, my-chart renewals, and patient calls
- Accept customer, insurance, and prescription information required to process new and refill prescriptions
- Communicate any issues that may delay the prescription to the patient and work with the Prescription Specialist Supervisor to coordinate resolution
- Assist with maintaining the prescription pool, keeping it up to date, and managing open encounters and in-basket management
- Follow all asset protection and personal safety guidelines as outlined in the department Policy and Procedures
- Obtain correct Prior Authorizations forms and complete and process prior authorizations for medications not covered by the patient's insurance
Requirements and Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Current unencumbered Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Massachusetts
- 1 year of retail Pharmacy Technician experience
- Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Epic or other electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Epic and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
