Data has revolutionized the way Delta operates, and the role of a data engineer is crucial in harnessing the power of data to make it accessible, available, and curated for reporting and evaluation. Data engineering teams within Delta's Operations Analysis and Performance (OAP) department are responsible for curating Single Source of Truth information tables for analytics teams, generating and distributing automatic reporting in a modular and scalable manner, transitioning to modern data and reporting tools, and serving as a center of excellence for green data processing and governance.Responsibilities
As an Experienced Full Stack Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:- Locating and extracting data from various sources to be used in analysis, models, and project development.
- Cleaning and curating datasets by researching new data sources and collaborating with other business units to determine the best source of data, aggregating perspectives into meaningful hierarchies.
- Being familiar with data environments and collaborating to enhance automated reviews and analyses in support of divisional leaders and business units.
- Leveraging emerging technologies and proactively discovering new and innovative approaches to communicate data and analysis that meet divisional needs.
- Supporting strategy development and project control engagements for individual business units and cross-divisional initiatives.
- Training and mentoring other team members in various skills and topics.
- Practicing security-aware behaviors in all operational procedures.
- Having a team-first mindset with the success of our team and business partners as the top priority.
- Being intellectually curious, asking questions, and communicating when you have an idea.
- Experience working in high-profile environments with fluid priorities, ambiguity, and competitive deadlines.
What You Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in SQL and ETL/ELT patterns.
- Proficiency with Python, SAS, or other comparable tools and programming languages.
- Ability to troubleshoot a reporting database environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously and manage multiple requests with varying timelines.
- Self-starter with a resilient, solution-minded approach to complex problems working independently or in a team.
- Consistently prioritizes security and protection of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

- Previous airline experience.
