Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Mechatronics Instructor to teach classes in basic DC & AC electricity, electrical power distribution & wiring, 3-phase motors control systems, fluid power systems, mechanical drive systems, DC power systems, test and measurement instrumentation systems, programmable logical controller interfacing and programming, and industrial robotic systems. The successful candidate will be able to create engaging presentations, demonstrate dynamic lab equipment, and guide students to hands-on experience with industrial automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach classes in mechatronics technology, including DC & AC electricity, electrical power distribution & wiring, 3-phase motors control systems, fluid power systems, mechanical drive systems, DC power systems, test and measurement instrumentation systems, programmable logical controller interfacing and programming, and industrial robotic systems.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students from diverse multicultural, socioeconomic, and academic backgrounds.
  • Develop and implement engaging presentations and dynamic lab equipment demonstrations to facilitate student learning.
  • Guide students to hands-on experience with industrial automation and help build student confidence and life-long learning habits.
  • Participate in program, curriculum development, and assessment activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and other educational partners to create unique learning opportunities.
  • Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field and two (2) years of industry-related experience.
  • OR five (5) years of industry-related experience.
  • Demonstrated work experience in one of the four key areas:
    • Industrial Three-Phase Electric Motor Control Systems Installation, Troubleshooting, and Repair.
    • Mechanical Power Transmission Systems Installation, Troubleshooting, and Repair.
    • Fluid (Hydraulic & Pneumatics) Power Systems Installation, Troubleshooting, and Repair.
    • Robotic Control Systems Interfacing, Installation, Troubleshooting, and Repair.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Professional-Technical Certification in mechatronics or a related field.
  • Experience teaching in a college or university setting.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software and equipment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong technical skills in mechatronics and industrial automation.
  • Ability to create engaging presentations and demonstrations.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

The salary for this position is:

  • Lecture hourly rate: $85.48.
  • Lab hourly rate: $73.01.
